April: Pet Appreciation Month (In the UK at least)!

I've had a fairly wide variety of pets over the years. From the normal dogs, cats, fish, a horse, and a bird, to less common ones such as rats, mice, gerbils, rabbits, snakes, and lizards. Though I admit I haven't had some of the strangest I've seen, my cousin used to have a rescued baby skunk (cutest thing ever!). I currently have two cats and two dogs of my own and a tendency to give them Japanese names. Yes, I named my Bengals and my Malamute mix after characters from Naruto.
Tobi (Mama's Boy) (2 yr old Purebred Bengal)
Asuma (Daddy's Boy) (2 yr old Purebred Bengal)
Molly (9 yr old Female Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix. My hubby's dog)
Sakura (In the front. 1 yr old Female Malamute Mix. Litter sister, Aiyasha, in the back is my brother's dog.)
However, today we add a new one for me to our family. My father in law rescued a turtle from my malamute mix, Sakura, earlier today and from the best we can figure it is a three-toed box turtle. My dog chewed on the shell to the point where it is no longer able to properly protect itself in the wild, which is why we'll be keeping it. We are currently researching the needs and care of these turtles. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of it to share and we haven't given the poor thing a name yet.

What kind of pets do you have?

Update: I know it's not actually National Pet Month in the US, but it is in the UK.

Today I've gotten some more writing done. I'm currently working on the third chapter in the restarted version of my second book, Blush. I think I'll be able to use a decent amount of the material I wrote in the first draft, so hopefully it won't take me too long to finish it. I have to laugh whenever I hear someone tell me that writing fiction is easy. Usually those people don't do it for a living.

I sit down to write pretty much every day, normally as long as 8+ hours straight and often up to 12. Sometimes it just flows and others it's more like swimming through a vat of mud. If you're a writer, don't let anyone convince you that you're not meant to be one if it doesn't always flow for you. My best day so far I got just under 6,000 words written, but most days I get somewhere between 500 and 1,500. Some days everything distracts me and I don't get squat done. For me writing isn't always easy, but I love telling stories and think I'm pretty good at it. I'll let you be the judge.
